Hotel Otrar

It is a hotel situated near presidential garden. It is a 5 floor hotel. Rooms are okay. They don't make up the rooms unless we tell them to do so. Breakfast was continental and less options for a pure veg person. Staff was somewhat friendly. Language is the important barrier. They mostly speak Kazakh or Russian.

Great place

I am very glad I stayed here very friendly reception workers always up to help you I stayed 3 different times here ,, super good breakfast in a wonderful place, central location next to a park and a shopping center all restaurants I will stay here again next time I am in Almaty

Nostalgic experience

The location of this very nostalgic and Soviet style hotel is very central, close to downtown sights, services and connections. Rooms are comfortable, but a bit small and they have a tiny balcony too. Breakfast in a great dining hall was actually very good.

This is a very poor standard hotel. Nothing is working. Ones upon a time this was a good hotel not anymore. I will strongly suggest that you remove this hotel from your suggestions list. Thanks.

Pros:
✅Helpful front desk staff
✅Good location (5 minutes from nearest metro station, park right across the road)
✅Fifth floor balcony has nice views over the park towards the mountains
Cons:
❗️The infrastructure in my room was dated - the attachment to hold the shower head was broken, the air conditioner was LOUD, the TV was an antique
❗️I stayed four days, and on thr third day I had to go to reception to request fresh towels and toilet paper. The receptionist was embarrassed and apologetic, but looking at other reviews, this hasn't only happened to just me
