Secluded and peaceful near exotic beautiful birds in the trees

Such a secluded peaceful place. Beds are comfy. Hot water for shower only lasts for about 10min so be efficient. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The exotic birds are everywhere on this property. Views from this place are so beautiful. You probably won't see the top of the volcano because it's always covered in clouds. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful retreat from city noise and traffic and crowds. Absolutely loved our stay here. Each room is a private bungalow. Plant life is on your doorstep with flowers and wide open windows. We are already planning our next visit to come back. Make sure to pack rain gear. It rains all the time here. Not like a flash flood but just random rain. Frequently.

Chateau Arenal - El Castillo

Chateau Arenal
A restaurant for a meal right through the day. We popped in for a coffee, so cannot talk much about the food they serve. But we loved the welcome, the decor. And the view from the balcony was stunning.
We hope to visit some other time for a meal.

My time at a hotel in the Costa Rican rainforest.

If you enjoy the outdoors, this hotel is perfectly situated to be close to virtually all activities you want to engage in. Lodging while not plush is comfortable. Excellent views of the volcano from rooms and the outside. Excellent pool and jacuzzi. Bar is very good -- cocktails and local beers worth enjoying. Food is very good but don't expect haute cuisine -- mostly fresh local and simply prepared. Employees were very friendly and happy to assist with any requests we had. Rooms were somewhat small but comfortable. This is not a place you go to in order to sit in your room and watch TV so bring your own entertainment, books, etc. Balconies were nice to sit on and relax with an excellent view of the volcano and rainforest. Definitely recommend and will go back.

Great stay for a few days

We were let down by other accommodation (unavoidable issue) and the lovely staff managed to fit us in for 3 nights with a room change which was a small price to pay for a roof over out heads. Location is great, easy to find (use Waze - everyone in CR does) easy onsite parking. View to Arenal is just amazing. The infinity pool and hot tub were great and we found a tree full of toucans next to the entrance. WE saw lots of birds including hummingbirds and plenty of raptors just a few metres from the covered dining area.
Great bar/food place is 10 mins up the road - La Ventanita. Butterfly Conservancy is close and Sky tours is close

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very nice and helpful. Gave suggestions on where to go. The room is small with no tv. The bathroom is shower only and no counter space. There is a very tiny sink. It was raining the whole time we were there, but if not it would have been a great view of the volcano. Most rooms had 1-2 hammock chairs in the back. The breakfast was great and loved the coffee. The sound of the river was very soothing. The pool was nice with beautiful view and hot tub too.
