Rapid City is home to Canyon Lake Resort. Black Hills Caverns and Berlin Wall Exhibit are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Watiki Water Park and Storybook Island. Flags and Wheels Indoor Racing and Museum of Geology are also worth visiting. Take an opportunity to explore the area for outdoor excitement like mountain biking. Apart from the somewhat dated accomodations (hey, it was a tad rustic but it evoked pleasant feelings of nostalgia for this 60-something boomer) I couldn't have asked for a quiter room nestled on the shore of a beautiful lake (well, reservoir) and park.
Plus we had the added benefit of being there outside of the tourist season. I'll be back.
