Not a good choice for the paid money

From pluses: helpful and always smiling cleaning staff and close location to a metro station.
From minuses: broken furniture, prostitutes are freely walking along corridors and disturb rest at night with their screamings, unfriendly reception that doesn't greet you at all while entering the hotel, drunk people with prostitues sitting at the reception.

Stay away from this place

This place has no management at all. Security kicked me out the hotel two hours before curfew saying I didn't pay for my last night. One of them was asking me for money in order to let me stay in the hotel overnight. I didn't have enough money, so I had to leave. I asked them to call a cab for me. They replied it's not their responsibility.
My room wasn't cleaned up even once during my 9 day stay. I had to go to reception to ask for toilet paper. Wifi works in lobby only. Room is ridiculously small and not what was on the picture. No coffeemaker, no water. Restaurant and bar closed permanently. Security as I mentioned very rude. Stay away

Cheap and cheerful for the location

So I have a penchant for Soviet hotels... This one was another that I'd not visited in Kiev - So naturally it went on the list.
21quid a night, with breakfast (more on that later) and right next to the metro. Sounds ok.
The hotel itself is massive, many room types and many facilities you'd never find unless you needed them. It is right next to the metro and there is a 24hr supermarket behind Puzata Hata opposite..
I went for a bog-standard Economy 'Ekonom' room - Soviet style and last renovated in that period. The bed was a little lumpy and the furniture dated - But all clean and perfectly fine for the price you paid!
The 'standard' rooms are only a few pounds more per night and appear to be considerably more modern with AC - You get what you pay for.
Breakfast was a shocker unfortunately. The choice was poor, food was cold at half hour to closing and the coffee machines were 'spluttery'. There only appeared to be locals in the breakfast hall when I visited, so I guess this hotel is more popular with the Ukranians ATM.
The breakfast hall itself takes some finding - past reception to the right, through some doors and up some stairs. I initially strolled into an entirely different hotels' dining room thru reception (the 'Adria' hotel on a few floors of the same building!) - Note: This looked markedly more pleasant.
Overall, I'd not stay here again when I could pay an extra tenner for the Hotel Ukraina, or indeed the Salyut which is super retro but more central.

Old and nasty

Old nasty hotel. My room hasnt been renovated since 90s. It had no A/C and the shower wasn't working. The service persoanal was rude. Don't even think to ask them for ice.
The location is good, but you can find a better deal somethere else in Kiev.
