Prestigious hotel within walking distance of the train station

Dirty, dusty, once grand hotel
The water pressure barely allowed for the shower function to work and the water had to be cranked as far as possible to get water warm enough for a comfortable temperature.
The breakfast buffet showed the same items more than one day- just a little staler and dryer each day. I feel badly for the employees that there employer does not do more to maintain the facilities so as not to jeopardize their jobs. The staff was professional and friendly but not even that can overcome the poor quality of the hotel

A nice stay
In Lecce, with my wife and a couple of friends, for the end of the year, we stay at this hotel chosen by friends to whom it had been recommended.
A stone's throw from the station (and that's not a figure of speech!), it's still convenient to the center; 5-10 minutes walk and you're everywhere in the historic city center.
Classic style hotel with nice sitting rooms furnished with taste (really nice sofas!), nice rooms (the only drawback of ours was the carpet but in that of our friends there was not), clean and quiet enough.
Good breakfast with a good assortment and quality.
I would, however, like to spend an extra word on the staff, both at reception and at breakfast. Rarely, in a hotel, have I felt pampered and cared for as in this case. Congratulations!
