fantastic place to visit , sculpture awesome

only a day trip, but sculptures were awesome , it was greek themed when we visited. the rooms looked fantastic, the posh ones even more so

I will go to sleep in the White Paradise

The doors of the igloo hotel pass through, the magic works and the eyes sparkle against the ice sculptures. The artists are talented, the sculptures are finely made. The theme for the winter of 2024-2025 is Greek mythology and we recognize Gods and Goddesses, not forgetting messengers and muses. Amazing!
We rewind... we chose to keep our room "just in case" in addition to the suite in the igloo. We had never had this experience of sleeping in the ice and we wished we had a way out if we lived it badly. We found it very convenient to organize before joining the igloo.
At the reception, we are given a large sleeping bag designed to support the -40°, as well as a pillow. A hot room is available, as well as the sauna. In the igloo, there are shared and heated toilets. Mine's okay, it takes away a weight to think we can pee at night if we need to!
As for the rest, it is beautiful. A large ice box spring hosts insulating reindeer skins where the large, warm downs will be superimposed. The sculptures are unique in each suite. Do not hesitate to visit them before and then ask for the one you preferred. We can choose if it's available!
If you choose a room, they are all identical. They are ice beds with also reindeer skins and a big down. They are not carved.
We're not gonna lie, we haven't had the best night of our lives... including falling asleep. It is rather cold to find sleep, but once this step is passed, you sleep like babies: no sound, a feeling of isolation and serenity. That's very nice. My husband put on a diaper: leggings and thermal top, socks. For my part, chillier, I put on tights and thermal leggings, a top and a thermal jacket, socks, gloves and a cap!
This is an experience to live if you can! Sleeping in the White Paradise is a must! Thanks to the hotel team, really nice, cheerful and dynamic.

Unique furnishings

We only visited the ice hotel and did not stay in it. This winter, Greek mythology probably found its way in, because the sculptures indicated it. You were allowed to view and visit all rooms and suites. An alcoholic drink at the ice bar was also part of it and rounded off our visit. We really liked it.

Norway Vacation

During our visit to Alta, we stayed at this hotel for three nights. The location was stunning, and the dining and staff were great.

A bucket-list experience and a very classy place

We spent one night in the Lodge then one night in the Ice Hotel and then one last night back in the Lodge. This place is pure class. The rooms are lovely and all face the river Alta. There is a sauna and a jacuzzi and I was surprised to be asked to pay 300NOK as a guest to use them for an hour. You get to use the sauna for free the morning after a stay in the ice hotel. The restaurant is built in the shape of a Sami laavu and is really lovely. Breakfast is buffet and lunch and dinner are a la carte. We were undecided about sleeping a night in the ice hotel and then figured we would probably regret it if we didn't so we booked one night in the ice hotel. One night is enough because you really only go into that part to sleep. You can tour the ice hotel during the day and it is so beautiful and inspiring and much bigger than we anticipated. We booked a suite which is a bigger room. There were five suites in total and each one has its own unique snow carving. The theme for this year was Greek Mythology and each statue and carving was drawn from these legends. We did not get cold in the ice room because you dress in thermals and the sleeping bags are rated to -40. The room is probably -4C. The smaller rooms are cosy but no art work. Whilst at Sorresniva we did the Reindeer and Sami experience with Mikkel. That was lovely and worth doing. He was fascinating to listen to. He is a fulltime reindeer hearder, not just someone dressed up as a Sami. We also did ice sculpting with Natalie and throughly enjoyed that. It includes a tour of the ice hotel and a drink at the bar. We did a three hour snowmobile tour with Kattel and she was a phenomenal guide. If you want to experience an ice hotel, this one is in the top three in the world.
