Friendly staff and good value overall.

Chose this hotel for location as were in town to see the band Ist Ist , reasonable price with breakfast included.
Beautiful and sunny for our stay which made sitting outside very enjoyable with piped relaxing music.
Range of beers good - we ate before we went out and the food was delicious - I had the meat pie and my partner she had the burger.
Service and friendliness of staff really good.
Check in was easy and out.
Breakfast was really nice and set us up for the day.
The room was quirky - bed comfortable - having a toilet surrounded by frosted glass was a bit random and neither of us used it for nothing more than a wee using the man in toilets for anything more. The shower also in the room wasn’t for us either. We aren’t prudes.
Other than that we very much enjoyed the stay and would return again.

Grimy

Arrived late and ready to order a take out and go to bed. Room had only been half cleaned - previous guests used towels and coffee cups and cleaning materials left in room. Reception staff initially more annoyed with the cleaning team than bothered about the guest in front of them - no other rooms available so was offered dinner - as this was already covered by work it made no difference. Accepted wine along with an unwanted (and decidedly average) dinner in the restaurant. Even after remedial cleaning the room was grimy. The wooden floor (room 14) was sticky, there was a wonky broken toilet seat, black mould in the shower corners and the room was cold. Didn’t dare use the only heating source which was an oil filled radiator which was missing a wheel. Next morning was unable to get into the main building for breakfast (had to knock on the window for a cleaner to let me in). Breakfast was better than dinner but overall this place was in need of some serious deep cleaning and customer service training. Will not return unless everywhere else in Bedford is a sellout.

Lovely place great staff

The staff here really look after you, it's very friendly and informal but efficient.
Appealing shabby chic decor, eclectic. Perfect location. Beautiful gardens, good food.
I'm not sure if I'd stay again though as there were some downsides for me. I had the accessible room but it isn't really accessible, yes it has a walk in shower but there are no grab rails and only a an overhead rain shower. The twin beds are high and with soft edge mattresses which make it tricky to get in and stay in! I worried I'd roll out if I got to close to the edge. ;). There was another downstairs room and maybe that would suit me more.
The floorboards are tricky on bare feet, take slippers
That said I would definitely recommend staying here for others

I would highly recommend to stay here. I enjoyed the quirky decor and was very clean and comfortable. I was suprised to find I had a bath in my room but no shower but made a change! The room was in the attic so very hot but once I'd turned off the radiator, opened the windows and staff found me a fan it was ok.Good breakfast and would return when next in the area.

Brilliant hotel

Awesome value, gorgeous rooms, superb food and genuinely lovely staff in this well run hotel.
An absolute jewel of a place just a short stroll from Bedford park and the town centre.
If you like the Old Bridge at Huntingdon you will love it here.
